I make sure that anything I write on this blog has to start with framing ideas into possibilities instead of the “doom-and-gloom” approach. Making the shift towards conscious consumerism needs to be aspirational.
We acknowledge the problem, accept the current situation but also live with hope that our small acts of daily sustainable living do help.
We already know how our planet is changing drastically. From time to time, I will cite statistics or infographics to make my post even more compelling but the highlight would always be on what we can do as regular consumers.
Now, to give more context as to why I always mention social entrepreneurship, let me quote The Good Trade on their definition of Social Enterprise.
A social enterprise is a cause-driven business, whose primary reason for being is to improve social objectives and serve the common good.
The three pillars of sustainability are Economy, Social and Environment and these are pillars that social enterprises try to address.
Conscious consumerism is a movement to revolutionize what we buy, why we buy it and from whom. It inspires a curiosity about the origins of the goods we consume, and a commitment to ensuring those purchases support sustainable life. – Evan of Intentional Solutions
We, the consumers have the power to choose which brands and enterprises to support. The more we support social enterprises, the more we contribute to sustainable life.
It’s not just about doing the right thing or feeling good. It’s about looking after our planet and our children’s future.
I invite you to follow along the journey so that we can motivate each other.
Lastly, if you are already a social entrepreneur, you are our heroes! We would want to learn more about your entrepreneurial path and we truly want to know your story. Even more importantly, the stories of people whose lives have changed through your social enterprise.
No matter where you fit – regular consumers, aspiring social entrepreneurs or social enterprise founders, let us not stop moving forward.
